A lifelong horse lover, you can usually find me at the barn when I’m not writing. After riding and training professionally for many years, I took a hiatus to give the corporate world a try before transitioning to writing full-time. The stories were always calling me, but I had to give the 9-5 a fair shake!
My degree is in Criminal Justice with a heavy concentration in Psychology and Sociology. You’d be surprised how applicable these are in the horse world, in corporate and in writing! Being able to read people and their emotions is key to being able to connect beyond surface level. There are few things I enjoy more than connecting with others and learning their stories. Everyone has one.
10 years ago I made a solo move to North Texas where I have lived ever since and work with businesses and individuals nationwide. When I’m not locked on Lindsey Hope Co. projects, I thoroughly enjoy spending time with my horse and dogs, being in the gym, working with the two nonprofits I am a part of (Claymore Operations and FetchDFW), reading and traveling. I’m a BIG fan of nature therapy!
Bonus fun fact: I LOVE LOVE LOVE to line dance!
Cannonball is a 22 year old Thoroughbred I was lucky enough to acquire as a broke college student. Because of him I remained broke, but he has since been by my side for 13 years and been my constant guiding light throughout so many life changes.
His favorite things include peppermints, giving kisses for peppermints, playing in water troughs, snorting all over me, pretending to be too old to get out of work, then pretending to be too young because he doesn’t want to be old. And really, really good grooming sessions, followed by peppermints.
He is responsible for ensuring all projects stay on track, and is not afraid to remind me that he is still number one.
Kodak is a 6 year old husky mix who was rescued by an amazing organization called the Street Dog Project based in Dallas, TX. I adopted him in 2018 a year after I lost my heart dog, Noah. Kodak’s expertise lies in making anyone and everyone LAUGH. His joy derives from just how much he can make you seriously laugh - the more you laugh, the more he’ll keep trying.
In his off time, Kodak likes educating others on dog reactivity. He is the second reactive dog I’ve had, and he is a great example of just how worth it reactive dogs can be when you take the time to educate yourself and learn how to best help your dog with professional trainers. He loves people and children, but does not like most other dogs. We love being able to help others on their reactive dog journey!
Gator is a 2 year old English Cream Golden Retriever whose greatest gift is being annoying, emptying all the water bowls single handedly and staring at you intently until you play with him. His favorite game in the world is tug-of-war and he will flat refuse to let you do anything else with your life until you take the other end of the tug. Nothing matters but the tug. 5am? Tug. Lunchtime? Tug. 9pm? Tug. His level of commitment is admirable.
He is responsible for keeping the energy in the room light and fun. He reminds me that it’s ok to step away and shake off the jitters. And that tug-of-war is still fun.
